Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) Level 3

This qualification is UK regulated, awarded by First Aid Awards (FAA) who are regulated by Ofqual and the qualification sits on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF).

When an organisation identifies there is a need for Emergency First Aid at Work practitioners then this national award satisfies the requirements of the Health & Safety Executive (HSE).  All delegates will gain the knowledge and skills needed to provide treatment to their casualties in a prompt, safe and effective manner.  The course is run over a minimum of 6 hours in the classroom consisting of theoretical and practical activities.

No previous first aid knowledge is needed to attend this course.

Course content:

 

  • Responsibility and reporting      

  • Assessment of the situation

  • Dealing with an unresponsive adult

  • Basic hygiene in First Aid

  • Resuscitation and AED awareness

  • Anatomy

  • Minor injuries

  • Bleeding control

A 3-year certificate of qualification will be issued to those who satisfy the criteria.

Emergency First Aid at Work

First Aid at Work (RQF) Level 3

This qualification is UK regulated, awarded by First Aid Awards (FAA) who are regulated by Ofqual and the qualification sits on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF).

When an organisation identifies there is a need for qualified first aiders then the First Aid at Work level 3 qualification will provide you with suitable, highly trained personnel which satisfies the requirements of the Health & Safety Executive (HSE). This comprehensive 3 day course covers a wide range of first aid emergencies thus enabling delegates to deal with emergency situations in a confident, prompt and effective manner. The course is ideally run over 3 consecutive days however there is flexibility to accommodate your specific needs.

No previous first aid knowledge is needed to attend this course.

Course content:

 

  • Legalities, responsibilities and reporting

  • Dealing with an unresponsive adult

  • Fractures and spinal injuries

  • Resuscitation and AED awareness

  • Assessment of the situation

  • Bleeding control

  • Shock (including anaphylaxis)

  • Heart attacks

  • Sprains and strains

  • Poisoning

  • Choking

  • Eye injuries

  • Chest injuries

A 3-year certificate of qualification will be issued to those who satisfy the criteria. Summative assessment is on going each day, along with a written assessment for unit 2.

First Aid at Work Requalification (RQF) Level 3

This 2-day First Aid at Work course is designed for those who currently hold a First Aid at Work qualification and are due to expire and meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982.

The important thing to remember is that as soon as the certificate expires, the First Aider is no longer considered competent to act as a First Aider in the workplace which may well leave the employer with a shortfall of First Aiders. Therefore, it would be prudent to arrange their requalification before they expire.

PLEASE CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING RULES FOR ATTENDANCE:

• A First Aider can renew their FAW qualification by attending a 2-day requalification course without question if it’s within 1 month past the expiry date

• If the First Aider has lapsed by more than 1 month, but no longer than 3 months, then the First Aider can requalify by attending a 2-day course providing ‘Special considerations’ have been applied SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS ARE:

                   • A signed letter from the employer to the provider of the training stating the reasons why in their opinion, the First Aider is suitably experienced to attend a 2-day course and does not require a full 3-day FAW course OR ...

                   • A decision is made by the provider of the training after discussions with the employer, or the First Aider, and deciding that their previous experience is sufficient to attend a 2-day course.

• If the First Aider has lapsed beyond 3 months then they must attend a full 3-day FAW course

 

 

The course duration is a minimum of 12 hours spread over at least two days, ideally, run over two consecutive days.

First Aid Requalificatin

Annual First Aid Refresher

Although not mandatory, in order to keep their skills up-to-date and refreshed, the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) strongly recommend that qualified First Aiders and Emergency First Aiders undertake an annual refresher course.

 

This 3 hour course is designed to help first aiders maintain their skills and knowledge whilst also keeping up to date with any changes to protocols consisting of theoretical and practical activities.

Course content:

 

  • Responsibilities

  • Primary assessment

  • Recovery position

  • Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Wounds and bleeding

  • Hygiene

  • Communication skills

  • Top-to-toe survey

  • Action for vomit

  • Chain of survival

Annual Refresher

Emergency Paediatric First Aid Level 3 (RQF) – 1 day course

Infant CPR

This qualification is UK regulated, awarded by First Aid Awards (FAA) who are regulated by Ofqual and the qualification sits on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF).

The qualification is designed for learners with a responsibility for the care of children and babies and provides knowledge and skills to deal with a range of paediatric first aid conditions and incidents. The purpose of the qualification is for the learner to attain the knowledge and practical competence required to deal with a range of Paediatric First Aid situations.

This qualification meets the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage.  The Emergency Paediatric First Aid course has been designed for those who have an interest in child and infant Basic Life Support, including parents, guardians and family members.

From gaining this Emergency Paediatric First Aid qualification learners could progress to completing unit 2 and being awarded the 2-day FAA Award in Paediatric First Aid.

The course is run over a minimum of 6 hours in the classroom consisting of theoretical and practical activities.

 

Course Content:

  • Role of the Paediatric First Aid

  • Seizure

  • Primary Survey

  • Choking

  • Resuscitation (CPR including safe use of an AED)

  • Minor Injuries

  • Wounds, bleeding and shock

  • Recovery position

Emergency Paediatric

Paediatric First Aid Level 3 (RQF) – 2 day course

Child Wrist Injury

This qualification is regulated in the UK and awarded by First Aid Awards (FAA). FAA are an awarding organisation regulated by Ofqual and SQA Accreditation and the qualification sits on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) and the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF).

The qualification is designed for learners with a responsibility for the care of children and babies on a professional level providing the knowledge and practical competence to deal with a range of paediatric first aid situations.

This two-day qualification fulfils the requirements for first aid training detailed in the Department for Education’s statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage.

The course is run over a minimum of 12 hours in the class room (2 days) consisting of theoretical and practical activities and assessed both through practical demonstration and written assessment.

• Role of the Paediatric First Aider

• Seizure

• Diabetic emergencies

• Primary survey

• Choking

• Asthma

• Resuscitation (CPR including the safe use of an AED)

• Minor injuries

• Meningitis

• Wounds, bleeding and shock

Paediatric 2 day

Student First Aid (RQF) Level 2

This qualification is UK regulated, awarded by First Aid Awards (FAA) who are regulated by Ofqual and the qualification sits on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF).

The Government in 2020 announced that health education will become compulsory in all state-funded schools in England and this includes basic first aid training.

This is a 3 hour course, designed for key stage 3 and key stage 4 students (11+ years) and fulfils the Department of Education requirements in respect of first aid training. Students will attain a nationally regulated qualification which develops new life skills and enhances their CV.

No previous first aid knowledge is needed to attend this course.

Course content:

 

  • What is first aid?

  • Primary survey

  • Recovery position

  • Resuscitation (CPR) and safe use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

  • Choking

  • Common injuries 

Assessment is through practical demonstration and a multiple-choice question paper. A 3-year certificate of qualification will be issued to those who satisfy the criteria.

Instructor has a valid enhanced DBS certificate in place.
